We request our clients to book an appointment slot prior to visiting our office. This is to ensure our undivided attention towards our client’s needs. The jewellery evaluations, examination, measurements and necessary tests will be performed in the presence of the client. This ensures the precious items are in the client’s view at all times.

Once the jewellery appraisal is completed, our client receives a bound report which includes a full description of the evaluated jewelry/watch, digital image(s) and additional documentation if required.

Our commitment to our clients:

Depending on the function of the appraisal or report, the value assigned to jewellery can vary. It is essential to discuss your needs and the purpose of the appraisal with your appraiser from the start. We will provide you with an estimate of the charges before moving forward.

The fee can be based on the time involved or the number of pieces requiring appraisal, but not the percentage of the value. We are committed to protecting your valuables by providing the best service possible along with the most accurate information available for appraising jewellery and gemstones.

Jina’s Jewels Jewellery Appraisals are performed by Certified Appraiser, Jinagna Shah, at our fully equipped appraisal office in Markham. Type of Appraisals

Regardless whether your fine jewellery is a family heirloom, a symbol of your spouse’s devotion or a whimsical purchase, getting a jewellery appraisal from a Certified Appraiser is a smart choice to make. A jewellery appraisal provides peace of mind that you have certified documentation describing your prized possession in detail should anything happen. At Jina’s Appraisal Services, we provide a range of different types of jewellery appraisals depending on the client’s needs. Some common types of jewellery appraisals include:

Insurance assessments

Insurance Assessments are a type of jewellery appraisal which is intended to document all aspects of your precious jewellery in detail. Insurers use these jewellery appraisals to establish the value of your jewellery and rely on the appraisal in the event of a claim to ensure that your precious heirlooms are suitably replaced quickly and efficiently.

Travel documentation

Anytime you travel abroad with your precious jewellery it is important to have appropriate documentation on hand to show customs officials that you possessed the item in Canada before beginning your travels. Failure to provide such documentation could result in duties being charged, or in extreme cases, items being seized upon your return. This type of jewellery appraisal is key to ensuring smooth exits and entries while traveling with your prized jewellery.

Division of assets

Sadly, separations and divorces are an all too common reality in today’s world. Beyond the emotional challenges, a lack of documentation around major jewellery assets can slow down what may already be a trying process. Having an up-to-date inventory of jewellery items and jewellery appraisals of all of your fine jewellery allows you to expedite equalization/distribution of assets allowing you to move forward with your life more quickly.

Probate and estate

The services of a Certified Jewellery Appraiser may be essential to the Probate process to ensure equitable distribution of assets in keeping with the wishes of a loved one. Jina’s Appraisal Services can provide prompt evaluations of estate contents including inventory through to formal jewellery appraisals if required.
